Happy Easter......

Wishing you all a Happy Easter full of sunshine and chocolate. My poor feet are throbbing as we've had another busy day in the shop and I have another early start tomorrow. So its feet up with a G&T and maybe a curry later if I can force myself to an upright position and point myself towards the kitchen.
These pretty tin eggs are the  only eggs I am having this Easter. These are so sweet and our best seller this year....I have to shed a stone before summer really starts..
Enjoy your weekend.

Homespun & Vintage Fair..

We spent a lovely morning at the fair,Cheryl,Linda,Naomi, and supporting cast did a wonderful job and everything looked so lovelyI forgot to take any inside photos but I took one of the garden where we enjoyed a wonderful cup of tea and carrot cake sitting under the apple tree..

It was a really glorious morning and it was more like a day at the height of summer rather than a Spring April morning
The friends Meeting House is a very tranquil place and has wonderful views over the town...okay what did I spend my money on...lots of things that I really didnt need but which I will treasure especially when I know how much hard work each piece entails...I was hyperventilating as I didn't know whxt to look at first so much vintagey goodness......

A lovely folder made by Andrea who now has her own shop on Hanover Rd in Scarborough.Andrea makes, among other things, pictures and beautiful cards which I am hoping to stock in the near future.
,
One of Cheryl's pretty hair clips -methinks I am probably too old to be wearing such things but it is so pretty I may just have to .....probably more alarming if I started wearing it with white ankle socks!!!
Some floral fabric for a birthday project I have in mind and some pretty doilies from Naomi's stash.Jules was forbidding me to buy anymore but I managed to buy these two.
Some fine lace that will come in useful. The whole fair was a wonderful experience full of like minded, lovely people and things.I could have bought so much more but the bank manager said No!It was lovely to meet Naomi who is a good friend of Cheryls ( they both  have two little boys)I read Naomi's blog and it was so nice to put a face to a name http://naominewton.blogspot.com/ Naomi's Mum is a lovely lady too...Naomi has posted a milion photos which give a flavour of the whole day ..For those of you who missed it or would like to go to the next one,I will keep you posted and...
Thank you girls for all your hard work and for giving everyone such a lovely day.

The Spring Homespun and Vintage fair is happening this Saturday at the Quaker meeting House (near the castle) in Pickering.Doors open at ten o clock.Cheryl and Linda have been busy since their last fair before Christmas. If you are not too far away, it is a wonderful experience and in such a beautiful setting.Tea and cakes are also served if you want to linger awhile. I have been saving my pennies for a little fritter.See you on Saturday.

Sea Cliff Road.....

When the world weighs heavy and I need to escape my classroom,I slip out at lunch time and only have to walk a little way to my favourite bench on Sea Cliff Road. This is the view.......
Then, lungs full of sea air and ten minutes of this view and I am restored........it's the little things....

Rosie's Boudoir.....

As promised in an earlier post, I managed to pop out for some vintage therapy at lunchtime and took some photos of Rosie's boudoir which is so pretty. The sun was shining and the window looks so inviting.

Step inside and there is so much that I would love to buy, many of the clothes though would only fit a stick insect...
Gorgeous silk scarves...
..
I love these nude colours and  faded pinks...very of the moment..
cashmere cardis and sweaters so soft and pretty...
Just had to photograph this shell box.It reminds me of my grandmother Daisy. She had many shell boxes and I have happy memories of spending an afternoon covering a Mateus rose bottle in shells which we collected on a caravan holiday in North Wales...it rained the whole time and my brother John and I played Old Maid and Happy Families with nanny and our great aunt Polly and her spoilt little dog called Squibby...
Nanny made the bottle into a lampshade and sometimes when I went for a sleepover she would light some candles (also in Mateus Rose bottles!!Obviously the drink of the moment) and we would have beans on toast followed by tinned mandarins and carnation milk and call it a dinner party.I was allowed to watch Emmerdalale and Crossroads on the understanding that I would not utter one word until they ended...

Hope you enjoyed the tour.I will try to post about the amazing tea shop which is opposite Rosie's, next week.
